1. Payments & Deposits – Prepayment Policy

Prime Car Rent Latvia operates on a prepayment basis. The full rental amount must be paid before the rental period begins.

If a customer returns the rental car earlier than planned, no recalculation or refund is provided for unused rental days.

Post-payment options may be available only for corporate clients and must be agreed upon in advance.

Accepted payment methods for car rental in Latvia:

• Credit and debit cards: VISA, MasterCard, Maestro
• Bank transfers for pre-bookings
• Cash payments in EUR only (available at select locations)

All online payments are processed in EUR. If your card operates in a different currency, conversion will be done at your bank’s exchange rate.

2. Deposit Policy – Credit Card Requirement

A security deposit is required for all rentals and must be held on a credit card (VISA or MasterCard only).

• If a customer provides a debit card instead of a credit card, Prime Car Rent Latvia reserves the right to charge an additional fee for holding the deposit.
• For corporate clients, the deposit may be paid via bank transfer for the entire rental period, subject to prior approval.

The deposit amount depends on the car rental category and insurance package. Deposits are refunded within 3 to 7 business days after the car is returned in good condition.

3. Driving in Latvia – Cross-Border Car Rentals & Mileage Limits

By default, rental cars in Latvia can be used only within the country.

If a renter plans to drive outside Latvia, they must inform us in advance and purchase a Cross-Border Permit.

• Cross-border rentals are allowed only to Lithuania and Estonia with prior approval.
• If a renter crosses the border without permission, Prime Car Rent reserves the right to charge the full deposit amount as a penalty.

A mileage restriction of 150 km per day applies for rentals of 1-11 days. If exceeded, an extra fee of 0.15 to 0.45 EUR per km applies. Unlimited mileage car rental in Latvia is available for rentals longer than 12 days, provided a Cross-Border Permit is purchased.

4. Free Cancellation & Booking Modifications

Prime Car Rent Latvia offers flexible car rental in Latvia with free cancellations and modifications.

If you prepay your rental, the refund policy is as follows:

• Full refund if canceled within 24 hours of payment.
• A 5% transaction fee applies if canceled after 24 hours.

If you do not show up within 1 hour of the scheduled pick-up time without notifying us, the car rental reservation may be canceled.

Important:
If you book a long-term rental and decide to return the vehicle earlier than the agreed end date, we reserve the right to recalculate the total rental cost based on the actual rental period. In this case, the final amount may be adjusted accordingly.

5. Documents & Age Requirements for Car Hire in Latvia

To rent a car in Latvia, you must present:

• A valid passport or ID card
• A valid driver’s license held for at least 12 months
• An International Driver’s Permit (IDP) if applicable (required for non-EU licenses)

The minimum age for car hire in Latvia is 19 years.
Drivers under 23 must pay an additional 30 EUR.
Drivers with less than 1 year of experience must pay an additional 30 EUR.

Additional drivers can be added for 15 EUR per rental.

6. Car Rental Insurance in Latvia – Coverage Options

All Latvia car rentals include basic insurance (CDW - Collision Damage Waiver).

CDW self-risk amounts:

• 300 to 700 EUR for standard 5-seater cars
• 700 to 800 EUR for SUVs and 7-9 seaters
• Luxury car rentals in Latvia require custom insurance calculations

Additional car insurance options in Latvia:

• LCDW (reduces self-risk by 50%): 5-15 EUR/day
• SCDW (zero self-risk): 10-30 EUR/day
• FTDP (Total Destruction Protection): 5-15 EUR/day
• FTP (Full Theft Protection): 5-15 EUR/day
• Extra SCDW (full coverage + replacement car): 15-35 EUR/day

Car rental insurance does not cover:

• Traffic fines
• Off-road driving
• Driving under the influence of alcohol
• Driving by unauthorized persons

7. Fuel & Cleaning Policy for Car Rentals in Latvia

Fuel policy: The car must be returned with the same fuel level as at pick-up.
If the car is returned with less fuel, a 15 EUR refueling service fee plus fuel cost will apply.

Car cleaning policy:

• If the car is returned dirty, an additional cleaning fee applies (from 5 EUR).
• Smoking inside rental cars is strictly prohibited. A fine of 200 EUR applies.

8. 24/7 Car Rental in Latvia – Operating Hours & Holiday Fees

Prime Car Rent Latvia operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Car rental at Riga Airport (RIX) is available at any time. Rentals during National Holidays may include a holiday service fee.

9. Extra Equipment for Car Hire in Latvia

Extra equipment is available when booking your car rental in Latvia:

• Infant seat: 7 EUR per day, max 50 EUR per rental
• Child seat: 7 EUR per day, max 50 EUR per rental
• Booster seat: 5 EUR per day, max 35 EUR per rental
• GPS navigation system: 7 EUR per day, max 70 EUR per rental

10. One-Way Car Rentals in Latvia

Prime Car Rent Latvia offers one-way car hire between Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia.

One-way rental fees:

• Latvia to Estonia: 160 EUR
• Latvia to Lithuania: 160 EUR
